Diaper Hat

I was playing with Aaron the other day and put the diaper on his head! It was so fun! I made a collage of the pictures and things Aaron might have said if he could talk to me!

No power?! WHAT?!

The power went out last night at like 6:30pm island wide! Apparently, lightning hit like 3 transformers and so it automatically shut itself down as a precaution. We had a battery operated radio that we were listened to. They gave updates, had people calling in and even had Mayor Mufi Hanneman give information. Some of the people that called were unbelievable! One guy was upset that he pays like a $500 electric bill and the power isn't back on yet. WHAT?! He was for real! The DJ was shocked that he said that! The HECO guys were working as hard as they could given the circumstances! One lady even suggested using our solar power panels to get power...the DJ's had to keep from laughing! But all in all, we were reminded to keep off the roads and if we had to be driving, to remember that the stoplights should be treated as a 4 way stop.
It wasn't too bad, but we realized that we were really unprepared for an emergency. I don't even have a 72 hour kit! We had 1 flashlight, found 2 candles and no matches! We went over to my IL's for a little while and hung out, we borrowed a lighter to light our 2 candles. I have candles...I just don't know which box they're in!
We went to bed early while getting bit by mosquitoes. Man they were out to get us!
The power was still out the next day but David's cousin, Shaun, came over to hang out. We played some games, took a nap, played more games and by 2:30pm the power was back on!! YES! I love electricity! I also learned my lesson, we need to be prepared for any kind of emergency! On my to do list: Make a 72 hr kit for me and Aaron. (David already has one!)
and you know I have to end my wordy post with a picture of Aaron!

Merry Christmas!

This is our free little Christmas letter and family update for everyone.
Aaron is 13 months now and just starting to stand up and walk a few steps on his own and this will be a more exciting Christmas for him since his first one was when he was only almost two months old. He's a little crack up, just watching him discover the world around him and him imitating us with everything we do. He already knows how to fold his little arms and say "amen", but sometimes he's impatient with us and says amen in the middle of the prayer so we just bless him that he won't do that while we say the prayer.
Carol is working at Kahuku still teaching the little brats...we mean angels that give her a hard time and David is a stay at home dad for now. Carol got called to be the 2nd counselor in the Young Women program in our home ward, Laie 4th, and loving it, while all the girls love Aaron. David is still happy to be the 2nd counselor in the bishopric in the BYUH 7th Ward.
We love all of you and hope the best for all of our family and friends!

and yes, that is a real Santa!

Snow in Windward Mall

We went to Windward Mall yesterday and it started snowing!! Aaron's reactions are so funny!! This is his first experience with "snow"!

It was really bubbles blowing from out of the tree but it was still cool and awesome!!!

BYUH Graduation Dec 2008

My cousin Max (and yes, I always address and refer to him as "cousin" Max) graduated from BYU Hawaii on December 13, 2008 and since we're pretty much the only family that he has out here, we got the tickets to attend the ceremony and listen to President Eyring speak and watch cousin Max get his (empty) college diploma (holder).

As we were waiting for the graduation commencement to commence, we looked through the program and discovered there was A LOT of people that we knew graduating and we didn't have enough leis!! So basically it was cousin Max and whoever we saw next until we ran out...sorry guys!!)
Congratulations on graduating and entering the real world!! Good luck with all you do!

The Rain Came Down and the Floods Came Up

You've probably all heard about the rain and the flood on December 11th. It was one CUH-RAZY day!! It rained so hard and for so long! We were really blessed that our house didn't flood. Our neighbors had it really bad though. David went out to help our neighbors and then went off to help his family that lives in Laie. His aunty lives on Iosepa and that street got it pretty bad, they had to rip out the carpet in their house.
These aren't even good pictures but these are the ones I took when the rain kinda died down by our house.

The water had actually gone down when I took the picture. The highest it went was almost up to the slipper.

The water is up to the back wheel of our Kia but our neighbors across the street had to sandbag it.

This is definitely worse than the one time that it rained for like forty days and forty nights! I don't know if you guys remember but the front field back then with all the water looked like a pond compared to the lake it looked like last week!

O' Christmas Tree

We put up our Christmas tree!

We put our tree on top of a box so it would look taller.

David's angle of the tree

my much shorter angle of the tree
This is a picture of the tree without the flash so it's kinda blurry.

Even though it is a fake tree, there are some of the fake tree falling off and making a mess!

Computer Games for Kids

Aaron likes to pound on the computer keyboard and take my laptop keys off. He gets mad when I don't share my laptop with him because he thinks I'm watching Super Why without him (I downloaded 2 free episodes from iTunes) and he'll close the screen or push it down so I can't see. BUT THEN I discovered this little gem from Fisher-Price.

click on either image to go to website
It's a website with games for infants, toddlers and preschoolers. I looked at the infant games and it's pretty neat. Every time they press a key, something will pop up! It teaches them cause and effect, because I press a button, something will pop up.

Aaron enjoys it but then he starts closing the laptop and gets mad that he can't open it. So I have to open it back up again but it's fun!

You should check it out!

Cheung Family

My family came to visit for Thanksgiving. The original idea was so that we could take family pictures again since my brother was going to come back to Hawaii from boot camp BUT long story short, he couldn't make it. We were sad but life goes on.
Here are some photos of my parents and my sister in various places.

top left: My Mom and Dad, me and David in Chinese restaurant, Mom and Aaron
Middle left: Aaron playing with my dad, Mom and Dad on Thanksgiving day, Olivia (sister) and Mailani (sister-in-law)
bottom left: Dad, Mom, Olivia and Aaron playing, Aaron is tired of taking photos, Mom and Aaron

All in all, they had a super fun time with Aaron and Aaron liked playing with them too! Whenever he saw them, he would get so excited! When they left for the night, he would get mad because his buddies were gone!

Here is a picture of my dad's excellent photoshopping skills and voila, my brother is in the picture with us!

My sister Olivia, my mom and me!

"Twin" "Sister"

My friend Mariko and I both work at Kahuku High. Pretty much everyone we see or know thinks that we're either twins, sisters, each other, or students.
Must be the stereotype that all Asians look alike.
The funny thing is, she's half Japanese and I'm full Chinese.

Do you think we look alike?!

Picture Tag

Okay, so according to this tag I'm supposed to choose the 6th picture in the 6th folder and the 4th picture in my 4th folder, and post it.

Here is the 6th picture in my 6th folder. Surprise, it's Aaron! It was one of the first activities in David's student wards...maybe not. It was a talent show and someone made a hat for Aaron.

Hello! It's Aaron again! This time it's Easter!! Like the bunny ears we made?!

A Mission Reunion, Camp Rock and a milestone

David had a Philippines Quezon City Mission Reunion on Tuesday Nov 25th and I got to meet his mission president and his family and the other people from his mission. There was really yummy food and dessert! Aaron even got some pie!
After that we went home and my parents came over to play with Aaron. We were showing my family "Camp Rock" because there is this one part where it totally looks like my brother is singing and dancing in it! Anyway, as the music is playing, Aaron is dancing along and he's so excited that he stands up! WHAT?! He finally stood up on his own! Must've been the pie he had! I took a couple of videos but this is the best one. Sorry it's so dark!
We have bad lighting but you can see his diaper!

Here are some pictures if you can't see the video.

My little baby isn't gonna be a baby much longer!

Catch up

I have a lot of blogging to do so stay tuned for these upcoming posts!
